Charles Cohen is currently a print journalist and an independent documentary producer/director. He has been writing for newspapers for more than twenty years. A freelancer for the last ten years, Cohen has contributed to publications ranging from niche professional magazines to The New York Times and The Washington Post. For the last seven years, he has cultivated a career as a producer/filmmaker.
In 2000 he teamed up with then AP freelance photographer, Joseph Mathew (now a Sundance Director), to create a 70-minute documentary called The Last Season, The Life and Demolition of Memorial Stadium. The documentary went on to be a holiday best seller, and a Collector's Edition was recently released. Cohen went on to produce a well received short, called "Mole in The Ground," a documentary about a New York street musician, which played in festivals throughout the United States and Europe.
His corporate work includes short videos for the Engineering Innovation program at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, Safe and Sound and Baltimore Ghost Tours. He has also created short documentaries for The Baltimore City Paper and The Urbanite. His upcoming work includes documentaries about beer vendor and entrepreneur "Fancy" Clancy Haskett, and another about a West Virginia fiddler.
Cohen is assisted by Paul Sulsky, a certified trainer in both Avid and Final Cut Pro editing systems, who specializes in interactive websites for clients including Hewlett Packard Developer and individual filmmakers.
